My latest painting "books of life" shows a giraffe resting on a tall stack of books. The eyes heavy and it long limbs sprawled over the volumes as if the weight of each page has drained the energy. The painting beautifully captures a sense of exhaustion—not just from reading, but from learning, growing, and navigating the chapters of life.
This giraffe, though visibly tired, represents more than mere fatigue. It embodies the journey we all take through life’s endless lessons. Each book in the stack symbolizes a chapter of experience, a moment in time filled with learning, joy, challenges, and wisdom. The giraffe has read them all, one by one, adding to its wealth of knowledge and understanding. Yet, and the giraffe is far from finished.
Life, like these books, presents us with new chapters all the time. With every page turned, we become a little wiser, a little more prepared for what’s to come. The giraffe, though tired, knows that the real value lies in perseverance and learned that even when it feels too worn out to continue, each new chapter brings with it the potential for growth.
And isn’t that true for all of us?
We sometimes reach points where life feels overwhelming, where we feel as though we have read too many heavy pages. But with each experience—whether pleasant or painful—we gain insight. The past, like the books we have already read, becomes a part of us. It forms our foundation, teaching us how to face the future with courage and resilience.
It’s essential to have the courage to start a new chapter, even when we feel weary. Life is not a single story but a series of volumes, each filled with different challenges and lessons. The giraffe’s posture may speak of exhaustion, but her journey is ongoing, and so is ours.
Every chapter, every page we read, is an opportunity to become more than we were before. So, like the giraffe, let us lean on our past experiences, but never stop turning the pages. Embrace the unknown, and keep learning from the books of life.
